Reality and Fantasy

She knitted herself,

A blanket of fantasies.

She would hide under it;

Sheltering herself from life’s atrocities.

Soon it became her home,

A part of her being.

It shadowed her true self,

And lead her to cloud nine.

She flew and flew,

Up into the boundless sky she made up in her mind.

Her wings were cut,

By the sharp swords of reality.

And she fell to the ground,

Bleeding and pleading.

Reality and gravity,

Smiled at their victory,

while her heart cried,

for her savior-the fantasy.
